Craps in the Movies
Craps is one of the most well known and played casino games that there is today. It is no wonder that Craps gambling has been used time and time again in movies as a background to a story or for a scene.
Playing Craps in Guys and Dolls
One of the most famous movies based around the Craps game comes from the classic musical, Guys and Dolls. Originally this was a Broadway play that became so popular that a movie was made about it. The story is based around an illegal Craps game that has to move around as it has no fixed location, together with plenty of romance from the two main players in the movie. The most famous scene has to be with the song "Luck be a Lady tonight". Here the star of the movie is betting not on money but his girl. The outcome of his relationship all depends on the throw of the dice. All through the movie there are great scenes with Craps being played and you learn a lot about the game just from the movie.
Playing Craps in The Big Town
In this classic movie from 1987, Matt Dillon plays an innocent shooter from Chicago town who realizes he has a talent for shooting dice and decides to travel to where the action is; Vegas. There he meets some of the old timers and one in particular that gives him a hard time. There are many great Craps scenes in this movie with tensions running high and you sitting on the edge of your seat wanting him to roll a Natural.
Ocean's Thirteen
This is a sequel to the infamous Ocean's Eleven and Ocean's Twelve in which a team of corrupt gamblers try to outsmart the casinos and make them bankrupt. Apart from the Craps scenes with the loaded dice there are many other scenes that depict fraudulent gambling and bad practices. It is a fun movie to watch and teaches you what not to do when gambling and how not to cheat.
Other Craps Movies
There are many other movies with Craps as their theme such as Snakes Eyes which involves a crooked policeman. Hard Eight is about the jealousy that develops between two professional gamblers and the fight for one woman. Each movie that features Craps teaches a little bit about the game and proves time and time again what a popular and lively game it is to play.
